Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: A Learning Path

Learning paths road sign.I am interested in becoming a network or computer systems administrator, a computer network specialist, or a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA). Does IT Training provide coursework that would help me reach this goal?

Earning an MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification qualifies you for a position as a systems administrator or computer network specialist, and it is the first step on your path to becoming a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA). The MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification is intended for information technology Professionals who have knowledge and experience working with Windows operating systems and who want to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to install and perform the initial configuration of a Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2 server in an existing Windows server environment.

There are currently 2 different paths that you can take to earn this certification.

Path #1

The first path is to take the three individual IT Training courses listed below:

  1. Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 (MOC 20410)
  2. Administering Windows Server 2012 (MOC 20411)
  3. Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services (MOC 20412)

While you can take the 3 courses in any order, the skills in the courses build upon one another, and so it is recommended that you take them in the order listed.

Soon after taking each of the courses listed above, you must submit a request for the corresponding practice test. After passing the practice test and providing proof of your passing score, you can request a voucher for the corresponding Microsoft Certification exam:

  1. After taking MOC 20410, you must pass Microsoft Exam number 70-410
  2. After taking MOC 20411, you must pass Microsoft Exam number 70-411
  3. After taking MOC 20412, you must pass Microsoft Exam number 70 -412

If you pass the 3 Microsoft Certification Exams listed above, Microsoft will grant you the MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification.

Note: IU faculty, staff, and students who pay for the IT Training courses listed above receive a voucher for the practice test and Microsoft certification exam as part of their course fee. Others may contact IT Training for information about the cost of these exams.

Path #2

If you currently hold another qualifying certification from Microsoft (see Microsoft Certification MCSA site), you can take the IT Training week-long course listed below:

Soon after taking the courses, you must submit a request for the corresponding practice test. After passing the practice test and providing proof of your passing score, you can request a voucher for the corresponding Microsoft Certification exam:

  • Microsoft Exam number 70-417

If you pass the Microsoft certification exam listed above, Microsoft will grant you the MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification.
